(June 2013 - moved to Arizona)
It was sad to leave Silver Spring after caring for my Mom for almost 10 years. After settling her estate and preparing for the back 9 of life,, made the big move to Arizona. Help! It's hot down here. Will not be making trip back to Class Reunion. Husband is having health problems and he needs looking after. Have fun. (April 2013 - my mother Norma passed away)
Love being a Mom to four handsome grown sons. Music is still my main interest. Joined the LDS (Mormon) church and have enjoyed life ever since. I've lived and traveled over much of the world. Lucky to have a mountain home on the Utah/Idaho border, but am presently living in Silver Spring while caring for my 94 year old mother. She still lives in Woodside in her home on Colesville Road. Well the elections are over and we can hope. Hope that it won't be politics as usual. My dad ran for Congress in the 50's, so I know first-hand how some of the behi...Expand for more
nd-the-scene 'stuff ' works. I'm assuming that it's just gotten worse. Fred Thompson (US Senator, actor, lawyer) said it best, "after a few years in Washington, I often long for the realism and sincerity of Hollywood." Then to add to my 'blue funk' that comes with the holidays, I can't get over the absolute highest levels of corporate greed ever conceived i.e. Enron and Arthur Anderson. And what's with this Wall Street investor who suckered his friends into his 'ponzi' scheme? Billions of dollars not there? I'm feeling the crunch, but don't we all? My 90 year old mom's medicine has gone way up. Her prescriptions run over $1,000 each month and that's AFTER insurance. If I can just get through Thanksgiving, putting up the Christmas decorations, sending my cards to those I love, gifting my four sons, partying on New Years, and then taking down decorations ... it'll be 2009. From here on out I'll be on automatic pilot. I can do this. I do it every year. We can all do this! Except my beloved Jewish friends. They're going to light a few candles, play with that little top (dreidle?), admire their Christian friends gaudy lights, and eat out at the nearest great Chinese buffet. Who are the smart ones? Did you know that on holidays Chinese restaurants are open almost 24/7? So if anyone has read this far and their dinners ever fall on the floor, like in 'The Christmas Story,' you'll know where to go.
